Reaction to the brief

Initial ideas -

Further Ideas:

 - Document Worcesters Youth
 - Document Worcesters diverse sub-cultures
 - Showcase the diverse range of styles within Worcesters youth

Final Idea:

I have decided to show how photography can be used to document  and celebrate individuality. I will be photographing young people around Worcester who stand out and who don't conform in terms of their fashion style, tattoos and piercing choices. The aim of this series is to show people that Worcester is a diverse community and not everyone from this small rural city is the same. People have different styles, likes and dislikes but thats good, so this series of photographs is going to be a celebration of these peoples individuality in a society which very much shames people for looking different.

I want to portray my work in a book form as i feel something tactile has a lot more influence and meaning and lets the viewer get up close and feel connected with the work without the barrier which a computer screen possesses.

below are some examples of photo books/essays which i have drawn inspiration from in terms of layout and style.

They all possess different qualities in which i find inspiring but the overriding factor which is in each of these books is the fact that there seems to always be one dominant image/photograph. I think this helps to balance he page out as it allows the viewer to focus on one image first (the dominant one) and then look over to the secondary image. if both images were big and bold it almost puts them in competition with each other and can overwhelm the viewer.
